The history of the Poles in the Soviet Union is a subject that always excites not only professional researchers, but also ordinary lovers of history. This issue, mainly because of difficulty with an access to archive materials for many years, is still not fully researched. Reaching for the book, Polish reader has a chance to get to know the names of only a handful of Poles who served in the Soviet armed forces.

Meanwhile, Polish and Lithuanian officers, especially high ranking military officers in Bolshevik Russia and the USSR, played a much more important role than it would stemmed from simple statistics.

Hence, the idea of writing this dictionary, which contains nearly 400 biographies of higher and senior officers serving in the Red Army in the years 1922-1941.

Biographies present extremely complicated fortunes and at some point very dramatic.
